What we do

We Are Northland Painters — We Transform Surfaces into Dreamscapes

Northland Painters, formerly known as Rural Painters, is a small, family-owned business primarily focused on the repaint market. We have been providing quality painting services since the late 1990s, beginning in Whangārei and now covering the entire Northland region. We serve both residential and commercial clients, transforming surfaces into dreamscapes with our expert touch.

We have been the Preferred Supplier for two local high schools consistently for the last 7+ years. At Northland Painters, we take pride in getting the job done right the first time and ensuring timely completion. Our director and two of our senior painters are proficient in small gib stopping jobs, ensuring a quicker and more efficient service. We also take health and safety seriously; each staff member has their own H&S manual, and we maintain a project H&S folder for our larger jobs.

Our Story

Meet The Team Behind The Brush

Tyson is our senior painter and the boss. He has many years of experience in the painting industry and his knowledge, expertise and skill are backed by a NZ Certificate in Painting and Decorating. Tyson’s work ethic is second to none, he has a keen eye for detail and his work is exceptional. Second in command (though this is still up for debate) is his partner in business and life, Miranda. Miranda has an education background but has put that to the side, for now, to support Tyson to build their family business. Miranda is an excellent communicator and is the behind-the-scenes coordinator of everything that doesn’t involve the actual painting.

Miranda and Tyson took over the business at the beginning of 2021. Bill and Darryll have been valuable mentors both leading up to the transition and during their first year of running their own business.

Miranda and Tyson have three young sons who worship their father, and terrorise their mother! Taonga, their youngest, sports an extra copy of chromosome 21, and is the driving force behind everything this busy little family does.

Testimonials

What Our Client’s Say?

We were thrilled with the professional finish your men made and the courteous manner in which they carried out the job.

Jenny McGuire

We recently had the team at Northland Painters working on our house at Matapouri. From the initial contact, Tyson and Miranda were easy to talk with, responsive to all communication, highly organised and efficient in every respect. Their team of painters were friendly and cheerful and worked tirelessly when on site. Their workmanship was excellent. They cleaned up our site every day. Tyson and Miranda made the whole process, from quoting through to completion, so very easy. We are so very pleased with our newly painted house.

Julia And Chris

Just letting you know your men did a fantastic job of my house. I’m very pleased with the outcome. As I live on my own they helped me shift furniture etc. Nothing was too much trouble. They were clean, worked hard and a pleasure to have in the house.

Roger Graham

I was impressed with the professional service I received. Tyson arrived promptly for a quote and the company followed through with what they said. Excellent communication from the office and the painters which made a great customer experience. I would highly recommend them and will use their services again in the future.

Karen Baker

Got Andrew and Mason to paint my house roof. They did a great job — very professional, very tidy, moved or covered things, and made good suggestions. Overall I am very pleased with the work done. Would use them again if needed.

Ken Armishaw

We had our interior wall, ceiling beams and pit of our cowshed painted. The boys were very pleasant to speak with and were tidy in their work. Communication with Miranda was excellent. They willingly worked in with our tight timeframe.

Marie Evans

We needed someone fast to finish a job we were running out of time on. Within the hour they sent 5 painters out to help us finish! I was absolutely stoked with the end result and the short time they completed it in. Very thankful for the prompt service and fair price.

Celia Paul

We were very impressed with the 3 young guys who painted our lounge and mezzanine. They each knew their job and worked efficiently and productively. We would highly recommend this company.

Helen Lomax

I have just had my in-ground fibreglass pool painted by Peter of Northland Painters. We were all impressed with the quality and high standard of workmanship. This 38,500 litre pool is about 30 years old and was bleached white — now thanks to Peter it is revitalised and deep blue. My family and I congratulate you on your skilled and talented staff.

Kevin Spellman

We found the professionalism of your people to be outstanding; well above our expectations. Thank you for the way your team conducted themselves throughout the project.

Brett Boag

We were very happy with the painting of our new house. It required considerable preparation which was undertaken thoroughly and the finished product is beautiful. The staff were always polite, helpful and friendly.
